The food programme targeted disadvantaged families with underage or disabled children based on pre-determined social and income criteria. SYN-ENOSIS provided monthly support packages with 35 kg of basic standardized food and personal hygiene items.

Initially implemented in Attica, the food programme has gradually significantly expanded to include various other regions across the country. In December 2012, 2,480 families were assisted and in December 2013 the number of recipient families rose to 9,732 and then again to 11,170 in December 2014, when 12,350 support packages were distributed to meet their nutritional needs (families with 4 or more underage children received two packages). This action was carried out in 119 areas on both the islands and the mainland in cooperation with 42 Bishoprics, 16 local churches, 28 municipalities and 33 social welfare bodies engaged in supporting vulnerable population groups, holding regular social registries and providing social services.

Additionally, a seasonal support package was distributed to 5,000 distressed families in the municipalities of Attica during Christmas 2014.
