The donation of ten advanced high-speed patrol boats to the Coast Guard was successfully completed by the SYN-ENOSIS, the Civil Non-Profit Company for the Social Offer of Greek Shipping.

The ten boats are already in full operational readiness, in the service of the Coast Guard, in Ikaria, Alexandroupoli, Kastelorizo, Lemnos, Mount Athos, Chios, Mytilene, Kalymnos, Kos and Samos.

The shipbuilding and delivery program of these high-speed vessels started on the initiative of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis who called on the Hellenic Shipowners' Association and its President Theodoros Veniamis to assist in strengthening the presence of the Coast Guard at sea.

The Greek shipping community responded immediately and the program was implemented with the exclusive funding of its members: Enesel S.A., Onassis Foundation, Aggelikoussi Foundation, Chandris Hellas Inc., N.J. Goulandris, Thenamaris, Arcadia Shipmanagement Co Ltd, Captain Vassilis and Carmen Konstantakopoulou Foundation, Golden Union, Neptune Lines and Georgios S. Koumandaros Family.

The ten boats are Leiftur 1100 Cabin Patrol type of the company RAFNAR, of Icelandic design and Greek construction. Their total length is 11.55 meters, the first five have two outboard engines with a total horsepower of 900 hp, while the remaining five, three outboard engines with a total horsepower of 900 hp, capable of achieving high speeds.

They have great flexibility, the ability to adapt heavy weapons, they have a closed governance area with anti-ballistic protection and state-of-the-art communication-surveillance systems, while their design allows navigation under difficult weather conditions.

The new vessels are of Icelandic design and are built in Greece. These speedboats are designed for special missions and can serve a wide range of activities. The speedboats engines, with 900 hp total power, develop higher than 51 knots speeds, are equipped -among other things- with thermal cameras and anti-ballistic protection, while their interior can be adjusted to transfer sick and injured people.
